Music can change the world because it can change people
Music can change the world because it can change people,
For better or for worse.
It’s so cool to pick up the guitar and create something that never existed before but that will live on forever, something that will outlive the one who created it. Things that I can’t express with words, I express with music, wether with my guitar or with my digital keyboards. A melody comes down into my being and I use my fingers to express it. And with that expression, somehow I can touch other people and perhaps spark an idea or two.
My name is Chris Reyes, my artist name is Xaman Monk. In the indigenous Mayan language the letter X is pronounced SHH, so the word Xaman is hence pronounced: SHA-MAN. But Za-Man sounds cool too! I am deeply rooted in and honour my inner Shaman and all of our ancestor’s ways of living and connecting with nature as well as with the inter-dimensional spirit world.
I like to offer the listener a glimpse into my inner world, a world that I spend a lot of time cultivating through meditation and other spiritual practices. We know that the inner world mirrors the outer world. The micro-cosmic opens into the macro-cosmic.
Aren’t we all tired of all the non-sense messages that are being bombarded into our subconscious minds every day? Through music, through the news, through television, through movies, advertisings etc..
I believe that the warrior artists out there, the ones that are not afraid to start new things, are leading the world into a way of heightened self-awareness and consciousness, encouraging everyone to seek out for something deeper than what the mass media has in program for them. In a way, to help them break free from the shackles of the matrix… To realize that there is something deeper than what society and the mass media tells them. That magic does exist. That we live in a type of organic digital virtual reality, and that there are instructions on how to use and enjoy our lives to benefit us all. Don’t you wish you were given the instruction booklet prior to incarnating in this world? Yes, but would you have read it and understood it, that’s another story.
Like the Yin Yang. I seek to find balance in my art and in my life. I like to reflect that through my music. That is why I like to dive into many different genres of music. To explore different realms and put together or create something original.
I like to say that we live in a mystical Digitally Organic World. Music is but one way to live it.
